The HGH Leech Pod is a Helghast boarding craft specifically designed for aerial assaults.
Overview[]
The brainchild of Colonel Radec, the Leech Pod was based on subterranean mining vehicles, Mining Tunnelers, used to dig underneath the Helghan surface. A Helghast cruiser carried 22 Leech Pods, with 11 mounted on each side. Leech Pods carry a boarding party of four to six specifically trained Helghast soldiers,[1] though those used during the capture of the SD Platforms could carry up to 20 men each.[2]
Leech Pods are launched from a cruiser like a missile, and once airborne, they orient themselves toward the designated target, piercing through its exterior on impact, drilling through the ship's or station's hull with their built-in heavy mining drill, and unloading its troops cradled within from a frontal deployment door. Upon a successful breach, these soldiers would then commence boarding operations inside the enemy vessel.
